I took Sophia to my good ol'hometown fair...the Cass County Fair. Oh, the memories! :) I went with Spencers brother Ben and his wife Megan and their 2 kids Luke and Claire and Spencers other brother Brett and his wife Jessica. I left Cash with my mom cause it was a little hot and I really didn't want to battle 2 kids when Sophia would be the only one enjoying herself on rides and such. Here's a peek, it was really fun!

We got to welcome Spencer back home right in the middle of August, it was FABULOUS!!

Now since Cash was not at the fair, I have to give him a little shout-out for the month of August. He started walking the end of July and was a pro by mid August. He's the sweetest thing you'll ever lay eyes on and the most loving little rascal, he makes your heart just melt! AKA "my little dreamboat"

If he's ever in a bad mood, all you have to do is give him the phone and its fixed.

HA HA! Sophia didn't care too much for her Alice in Wonderland wig in the month of August. Maybe when she's in Kindergarten she'll be ready to be Alice of Halloween.

JULY

After I returned from my quick 3 day trip Spencer and I realized that he would have a long weekend the following weekend because it was the fourth of July. So I booked myself another flight to Fort Jackson in South Carolina this time and we had the honeymoon we never got to take! It was great. We went to the Columbia Museum of Art, the water park on base, saw an awesome fourth of July show on base that made me feel really patriotic, ate at Hard Rock, walked along Barefoot Landing which was great and ate at a little Italian restaurant and we even drove 3 hours to Myrtle Beach and stayed in a great hotel for 1 night.

Might I add I had a sweet yellow rental car!

This was all just what I needed to start the month of July off and wait 6 more weeks for him to finally come home!
Sophi and I made a "countdown chain" so we knew just how many days until Daddy got home!

We even celebrated my fathers 76th birthday at the end of the month and made our usual homemade ice cream!

I have two, no three excuses that have been keeping me from the blogging world, Sophia, Cash, and the return of my husband! It has been months and I'm taking this moment to play catch up....this may take a few posts...you got a few minutes? :)

Spencer was still at at basic training and the kids and I filled our time with fun activities and things to do to the pass the time.

The end of June Spencer graduated from Basic Training and I finally got to see him after 10 weeks! I flew out to Kentucky and had a horrible time getting there. We landed at our connection on time but sat on the plane for over an hour because they didn't have a gate to unload us at. So we(a mother and her son) missed the flight and they couldn't fly us out til the next morning so we had no other choice but to drive 6 hours to Kentucky from Tennessee. I was running on an hour of sleep but it was so great to finally see him, you have no clue! He looked fabulous and I cried like a baby!

Well ladies and gentleman I have officially given myself the title of the slacker blogger aka "Slogger" Here I am...Since Spencer left for Basic Training mid April my life has become full time mom...wait, I've always been a full time mom. Now I'm an EXTRA full time mom! For those of you who don't know, Spencer has joined the Army National Guard as a chaplains assistant. He is currently in Fort Knox, Kentucky doing some hardcore training. Trust me when I say hardcore. The stories I have read sound just like the movies.
Lets see...a brief overview. He sleeps with his rifle which has to be named. He has named his "Angelita de Guerra" little angel of war. Dessert, aka "fatty cakes" are always in the mess hall, but they're not allowed to eat them unless they want the whole platoon to do extra physical training. He uses the word Drill Sergeant so much that it slips into his prayers at night. He only sleeps from 10pm to 4am and that's if he doesn't have an hour of "fire guard" to wake up for and patrol. They have to unmask in a gas chamber where afterward the majority of them puke. They have had a rifle cleaning competition where the winner gets 10 minutes of phone time...Spencer came in second. Sleeping on top of your covers is against the rules, resulting the whole platoon being woken being up at 1 am and lectured for 10 minutes on following rules. They take 240 guys, line them up in a rectangle shape in a huge training pavilion and order them to take a nap.
These are a only a few of the strange stories that Spencer has written me about. He also has had very positive experiences along the way. There is a guy in his platoon that is also LDS, he said that things are only hard while he's doing them and that he's always glad that he does them. He's never wanted to quit more than any other time in his life, but never wanted to finish something and accomplish it so bad at the same time. Truly he's doing great! As of date I have only spoken to him once on the phone, its been 3 weeks. I hope to hear from him soon.
For the kids and I, we are blessed to have family so close. My mom is great at helping me with the kids when I work 2 days a week and Spencers mom is always willing to watch them so I can have a break and run some errands on my own or take time for myself. Plus we have Spencer's brother Ben and his wife Megan who moved here about a month ago and its great to be able to spend time with them. We are greatly blessed and taken care of. I get to fly out somewhere around June 25 to see Spencer at graduation after which he will head to his AIG (advanced individual training) for 6 more weeks in either North or South Carolina. Contact with him will be tons better. He will be able to have his cell phone there and weekends off. Its more of a school all day type setting.
I hope this keeps most of you up to date with our family. We love you and miss those who are not here with us. Hope you enjoy some updated pictures.

Where do I begin to catch up....Uh...Christmas! We had a great time during the holidays this year. We were able to hang out Christmas Eve with Spencers family at his Aunt Judy's with everyone this year. We had a large group and enjoyed watching the kids running around. (Sophi,Ruby,and Ryan) We enjoyed the two new little babies (Cash and Sidney)and are excited to see how much crazier things will be with more kids and gifts next year!
Christmas day was fun, we got to open presents as a family in the morning, then we headed over to Spencers parents to have some brunch and watch Sophia open gifts and play with Courtney,Jordan,Grandma,and Papa.
We then headed home to prepare for Christmas Day dinner with my side of the family. The kids had a blast opening all their presents that Santa brought them.......yes,Santa Spencer visited this year. It was relaxing having the kids playing on their own independently while we just lounged.
So far winter here has been pretty mild, we've had maybe 2-3 times that we had snow covering the ground but nothing that has kept anyone snowed in for a time. Lately we've just been enjoying the kids and waiting for summer to get here.(so has Sophi)
Cash is an angel baby, he rolled over the last day of December and now loves to scoot around on the floor. We find him half way across the room at times. We're still waiting for him to sit up on his own, and to see those 2 bottom teeth pop through.
He just turned 4 months a few days ago and I have no clue as to where all the time has gone. He's pretty much a mama's boy and I love it.
Both kids started getting colds this last Saturday. They are both finally recovering since they've been sleeping with vaporizers in their room for the past 4 nights. I think Sophi enjoyed the box a little more than the vaporizer.
Sophia is getting smarter by the day....lets see.....she told us a few weeks ago that she wanted to "bust a move"(probably from some TV show).
She was disappointed to tears when I came home from working one morning (yes I'm back at gap VERY part time) that I did'nt bring her a castle. I guess her and dad had been looking up "castles" (play houses) on the internet and I think she figured I was bringing one home. I felt HORRIBLE, she just started crying when I walked in, I felt like a failure, luckily she was satisfied that we just printed her off a picture of one and now she plays with it around the house.
Dad and her are making forts around our house now and she loves it, she probably asks for one about once a day now.
She loves to play with the kittys at grandma "EVA LACS" when we visit.
Speaking of animals......Spencer had his first deer hunting experience with my dad this January. He shot 2 dear, gutted them, and helped cut it up. What a champ! We now have a nice amount of deer meat in our freezer and so far we have liked how we have fixed it. We were both skeptical at first but I think we found us some good recipes!
We all had out first family bowling experience this week for family home evening.
Sophi had fun the first few rolls, but enjoyed playing in the game room and the "go kart" that daddy took her riding in a lot better. It was fun to see the excitement on her face!
We sure miss all of you who check out our blog in one way or another. Its always nice to be around family and friends, we hope that you enjoy our little update and that you are all well.

I have neglected our blog long enough! I'm always thinking that theres something else I should be doing rather than hopping on the computer! I'm so bad at keeping this thing updated!
Well, the Holiday is quickly approaching and I'm still trying to get a Christmas card put together (once again another computer project) and I'm still trying to finish editing photos from a wedding I shot Thanksgiving weekend.....(computer)! I've got to get a move on here!The kids are doing great! Cash is just doing so great! Sleeping and eating well and giving us thee cutest smiles every time! Sophia is quite excited for Santa to come this year. She has been watching the Tim Allen "Santa Claus" movies and can't wait to leave him some milk and cookies! When she see's the reindeer fly through the sky with Santas sleigh she comments "Santas giving presents to boys and girls.........he's so sweet". Spencer and I always tell her that Cash is "so sweet", so I think she's starting to put that phrase into all of her sentences now. She cracks us up every day, just a week ago she walked in the bathroom, stood on the scale and said "Umm, 40 pounds". Then when you ask her what time it is, she tells you its "40 o'clock", I think she has a thing for the number 40.Spencers shifts have all been extended an hour cause of the holidays, he's at work for 10 hour days. It will be nice to have him home for 3 straight days when Christmas gets here!
I've recently hopped back on at gap part time. I can't believe I worked there for 5 years before I quit and now I'm back. I only work Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I just wanted a chance to do some "grown up interacting" once in a while. Spencer was so supportive of me doing something for me, and this is what I wanted to do. So I'm loving getting my hands into some fun visual merchandising and seeing those markdowns! :)Now that the basement is done, I had the treat of going out for my birthday to shop for all my wall decor. SO EXCITED! I have a family picture collage wall and a wall of clocks! Yes thank you Jen Coberly for the sweet clock collage idea. I ran it by Spencer and he loved it!It's going to be bittersweet at Christmas this year! Especially for Sophi.....her fun Uncle Brett and Aunt Jessica are leaving this friday before Christmas to head back to school. I don't think she quite understands that they're leaving for quite a while. She loves them so much and talks about them at least once a day. We're really going to miss you guys, its been so much fun to have family in town for awhile, I dont know how we'll do without you now! We love you!The bright side for Christmas is that we've got Courtney and Jordan coming!!! Finally an upside to this previous downer! When we talk to Sophia about somebody visiting for Christmas, she knows just exactly who! "Courtney and Jordan got married!" she tells us. When Spencer put on his suit jacket for church yesterday, she asked him "Dad are you gunna get married?" I think since its been summer and Spencer only wore his suitcoat to weddings......now thats its winter and he throws it on, Sophia thinks he's headed to a wedding!

Other than balancing the art of motherhood with 2 children now, here's what I've been up to. In the last couple of weeks I did a senior picture shoot. Cammie is an exchange student from Belgium and will be here in Nebraska until December. It was a fun shoot! We also did some fun shots with her friend Tina from Germany also an exchange student.

Cash had his 6 week check up this last week. Hes now 10 pounds 13.5 ounces. and growing like crazy. He took his 3 shots like a champ, and hopefully we wont be in to see the doctor until Jan for his 3 month check up. In the last week or so Cash has also been quite the entertainment for mom and dad. We now the have the technique of making him smile down to an art, with the baby talking and tickeling his chin. What a dreamboat!

Sophia had a BLAST at what we told her was a "pumpkin party" a few weeks ago. It was a fun petting zoo and pumpkin patch all ready for the Fall holiday. We dressed her up as a cowgirl before we left.
Spencer is still hard at work at Best Buy, and putting the finishing touches on our newly finished basement. We (Sophia especially) have been enjoying it for weeks now. Sophia asks everyone who visits, "Wanna see my basement?" Shes quite excited about her new play place and moms quite fond of the high noise level that has moved from upstairs to downstairs.

I am starting to get a little more rest through the night now, Cash will sleep for 6 hours at times. Its bliss let me tell you. Right now I'm trying to keep up on my scrapbooking but I'm starting to realize why digital scrapbooking is becoming so much more popular. I think its going to become much more popular with ME too.....soon!

So maybe I jumped the gun a little in venting on my blog a little too soon. We had our little boy only two days after my "emotional unload" and yes............Now Sophi shares the same birthday as her little brother Cash! I can't believe it, out of 365 days in a year, they were born exactly 2 years apart to the date. The similarities were crazy, they were both 20 inches long, and Cash only weighed an ounce more than Sophi. It seems that 10am also seems to be a consistent time with both of them. My water broke with Sophia at 10:00 am and with Cash my contractions were coming 4 min apart at home starting at 10:00 am. I called my docs office just to double check how close my contractions were suppose to be in order to head to the hospital cause I couldnt remember. I had a 1:45 appt scheduled that day, but after I talked to the nurse, she asked if we could make it in at 10:35 and she'd have the doctor just check me and see whats up. So we packed up all our bags, loaded Sophia and headed to the office. She checked me and I was at 5 cm and 100%. She asked if we packed everything or if we had to head home because she didnt suggest taking too long heading over to the hospital. We got all checked in and situated in the delivery room about 11:15 or 11:30. I hung out for about an hour with my contractions, had the epidural about 12:30, told them I was feeling the need to push about 12:45ish or 1:00 after my epidural. The nurses asked me what I was at when I went to the office at 10:35, told them, they asked if I was checked again by anyone, told them no, so they checked again. The nurse was a little in shock that she thought I was at 9 cm, so she asked another nurse to check and that nurse said I was already a 10 and we needed to get the doctor there. Needless to say the doctor rushed in and delivered Cash at 1:33. Nuts! I never expected things to go so fast. Good thing I didnt hang out at home much longer timing my contractions. I might have had him in the hospital hallway or something! Things are great thought, hes a very good baby and we feel blessed for a second time with a great child. Eventually I'll have time later to post more pictures, but this is all I have easy access to at the time. We're postponing Sophi's birthday celebration to Monday the 8. So I'll have a post hopefully shortly after. Hope you enjoy!

I have to say, I have NEVER been so frustrated, anxious, and impatient all at the same time! I know I'm not like some women who go over their due date (lets wait and see) but I'm going to be 39 weeks this coming Friday and I've been prepared to have this baby since I did the whole preterm labor thing at 34 weeks!

I dont know what this little guy is thinking! I'm convincing myself (for my sanity) that he's waiting a little longer because he's hanging out with his little girl cousin in heaven (Ben and Megans) and having SO much fun that he can't stand to head down here and leave her! Right?!

Wish me luck that this is the week! But lets skip over Wednesday which is Sophis birthday, I'd feel bad if they had to share the same date.

Lately I've been obsessed with watching "So you think you can dance". I know just about everybody else is already on the bandwagon, but I've also been watching reruns on MTV of older seasons. I just had to post a couple of my favorite dances from this last season! I totally hate that there's only ONE winner! Some of them should win in couples and then be forced to date and marry! Thats what I think should happen. Look at me, I'm wanting to arrange marriages! Seriously though some of these couples should stick together and tour! I'd go see them for sure! Also, I'm stuck on watching "Americas Best Dance Crew". Its a must see! I still can't believe Fanny pack got cut last week!

As far as a family update. I get to stop my medication tomorrow (saturday), if I'm lucky I'll have the baby soon after stopping it. Knowing my luck I'll probably carry for at least another 2 weeks! Lets hope not, I'm pretty uncomfortable at this point.

No more MULLET!

Yes, my daughter has had a slight mullet for the past 4 or 5 months, I've been working on letting her sides catch up with the rest of her hair and in the meantime, neglected the back of her hair that continued to grow. So I took some scissors to her hair after church last Sunday and "Wallah!" No more little miss mullet! She was a little shy at first as the two of us "oooh'd and ahhhh'd" over her. But shes looking so grown up to us now!

I am well aware that I am not the best at updating my blog. It's taken me forever to get pictures off of my camera and on to the computer. Can you believe I had over 450 pictures to download! So here is my attempt to update you through pictures! Yeah!

This is Sophi in May, she is obsessed with making sure every doll she puts on a chair is lined up alongside her! She gets this from me. I have a picture just like it of me when I was about her age. Must be some type of obsessive compulsive disorder.
This is Sophi in May at the Henry Doorly Zoo. They have a new butterfly exhibit and it was a huge hit with her. We went with my friend Shani and her little boy Reilly. It was a fun day! She kissed just about every little fake animal you could sit on at the flower gardens.

A few days after the zoo, I noticed we had a new baby bird that had landed on our deck, he was just learning to fly so he was quite unsteady. Sophi was so excited and started offering the bird her morning cereal!

Now on to a home improvement project.......... I have been so excited to get things ready for my new little baby boy. I finished painting his room the end of May right before we left for out little vacation. It turned out really cute! Its kind of hard to not feel overwhelmed with the stripes in this picture because I could only get so far back with the camera, but trust me when your in the room, it doesnt feel that way. Yeah for little boys!

For those of you who dont already know, Sophia has a hard time giving someone a "thumbs up". She understands the concept that a finger is suppose to be pointing up from your hand, but she turns it into a set of "guns" pointed at the ceiling.

Its to DIE for!

To add to her obsessive compulsive disorders, when she "puts her babies to bed" they ALWAYS go face down, just like she sleeps. She ran out of her room one day and said "Daddy come see", Spencer found her entire bed covered with every last doll and stuffed animal facing down on her bed! Another thing to DIE for!

That wraps up our month of May! I'll post June too, it was a very busy month!

Yes! I'm posting again! I know it takes me a while. First things first! My wonderful hubby got a job promotion about 2 weeks ago! Yeah! He will be opening a new Best Buy on L Street in Millard as the Customer Experience Manager (CES). He has been busy these last couple weeks interviewing people for his department. The only downer to this little promotion is that he has to train in Minnesota the week we had tickets to go to California for vacation. So, I"m in the process of figuring out what to do with my ticket! Who wants to pass up an opportunity to lay on the beach in San Clemente for a week! Although the complications, I'm so proud of his enthusiasum for work and "moving on up". He really does love the company and being friendly with people! Good Job Spencer!

As for whats new, well, I think I've gotten Spencer set on some dates to paint the outside of the house, this Saturday and Monday on Memorial Day! I'm really excited! I'm picked up some paint myself, I'm planning on repainting Sophi's room, and the baby's room. I'm always trying to spice things up a bit. Hey, when you probably will be spending about 3 months straight in a nursery with a newborn, you might as well enjoy the 4 walls your staring at! ;)

I'm super excited for SUMMER! I've already been garage saleing for baby boy stuff, and I'm ready to hit the pool and catch some sun! I picked up Sophia some dress up clothes at a garage sale, she things its kinda fun to dress up with moms help. I'm thinking it might be short lived until she gets a little bigger. The things she really enjoys are the crowns and wands, probably because its the easiest for her to put on herself. She's also been ready to jump into Grandma and Papas pool for the past week. Its been too cold but this week I think will be a great week for swimming! She's obsessed with waving the water hose all over the backyard!

I know, I'm deeply sorry, a few of you have been pretty firm about letting me know I need to update my blog. Here's the deal. I'm on the computer for about 3 hours a day making calls for my little jobby and by the time I finish I am absolutely ready to be OFF the computer for the day. It almost makes me sick to stare at a computer screen for so long. I must thank you though for your persistance, it is much appreciated to see how much you love me! :)
SOOOOO, I go in for the ultrsound for baby #2 on May 2, It is quite a late appointment, I'll be 21 weeks then. I believe the doctor was gunna be out of town and thats why the date got scheduled so late. I know I'm going nuts just waiting to find out! Spencer and I are at a loss for having any intuition on what the sex is, so we're in just as much suspense as you all may be. I like the name Charlie for a boy, Spencers thinks its a little feminine only because of that movie Charly.........I dont know what to say to that. We are pretty agreeable on the name Baylor though. As for girl names, I like Emmie. Spencer has not really stated either way if hes for it or not.
UPDATE FOR SOPHIA..........
We have taken away the crib and have conquered the toddler bed! I have to admit, I tried the Super Nanny going to bed thingy and it worked like a charm. The first night I put her in her bed 11 times in like 13 min. The second night I put her to bed only 4 times, and the third night Spencer only had to put her back in bed once. The fourth night, it was quick and simple, we read a book, said our prayers, rocked a little and she was out for the entire night. I'm super excited!
This weeks been fun! Brett and Courtney got back from school and brought Bretts fiance Jessica back with them to stay for a week. We've done a little of everything and have a couple more days with Jessica in town to do some more stuff. After that we're going to steal Brett to help up paint the outside of the house for a few days! I'm excited for that, I don't care for the peachy skin color of our house now. By the way, have I mentioned that the weather has been incredible for the past week! I'm super excited for summer to finally be here and to have the windows open around the house. I just love it!

The Phantom of the Opera

TOTALLY OBSESSED! I've been singing Phantom songs since Valentines Day! Spencer and I went with Spencers parents on Valentines to the Orpheum and saw this incredible show. I knew after seeing it, that it was a must for my moms birtday the 20th of this month. So I grabbed some more tickets and took her last night! I cried more this time than the first time I saw it! Now mom and I are going to make ourselves theater junkies! We're making plans to see Annie and South Pacific in a few months! Mom says, "You do the driving, I'll pay!" Hello! Could anyone pass that up?!

Still SICK and miss all the family!

Well, well, well, still waiting for the nausea to LEAVE! Hoping only a few more weeks! Please! I though I'd make a quick post to let you know I'm still alive, I go to the doctor this Friday to have my first baby check up! I'm excited! Just to catch up on a few things. Spencers grandfather "papa" passed away a couple weeks ago. We will miss him so much, but know that he's with his family and having a wonderful time where he is now. It was fun though to see all the family when they came into town. The kids got to play together and I have a wonderful video posted thanks to Megan! Its so funny!
Right now, Spencer and I are just waiting for summer to get here! We've had enough of this snow! Plus we can't wait to travel to San Clemente this summer and also travel some more for Spencers little brother Bretts wedding in June!

This morning sickness is ALL DAY SICKNESS!!!

I have been lying on the couch for the past week, looking at my home continue to get messy around me, laundry piling up, dishes covering the counters! Ahhh. What I wouldnt give to just be doing laundry or washing a few dishes right now. I'm nauseous constantly, having to make myself eat about every 90 minutes so it doesnt become worse. To top that off NOTHING ever sounds good, for me its just whatever is quick and doesnt leave an aroma in the house.

Spencer has been so great at fixing me food when I need it and helping out with Sophia, mainly when those dirty diapers pop up! :) I've also been obsessed with watching High School Musical 1 and 2 this week! Spencer picked them up for me this last week! Talk about not being able to get a song out of your head! I find myself waking up in the morning, griting my teeth and singing those songs in my head while I fight off my nausea. I've always been like that when I'm sick, weird huh?!

But really, I'm in love with these musicals! "We're all in this together!" "So lonely before, I finally fouuunndddd, what I've been lookin for, du du du du!"

Cravings

Its funny how being pregnant can bring on a plethera of food cravings. I thought I'd make a list to keep track this pregnancy.

1. crushed ice, I cant seem to get enough of that chomping!

2. salsa, salsa, salsa......no, not the dance, the REAL stuff, I mean fresh made salsa and guacomole with chips! no imitations please.

So I took my sister in law Megans advise and started the "Twilight" series by Stephenie Meyer. I'm only 2 chapters into it and I LOVE it, its such easy reading! It flows so well, and I can't wait to pick it up again. If you were one of those who enjoyed "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" growing up..........(I did) then you'll love the plot behind this! I know, vampires, blah, blah, blah, but its REALLY good, I promise!

Winter Weddings!

So I shot my very first wedding this last December. I was quite nervous but I knew if I didnt start somewhere I'd never get anywhere! I was really pleased with how things turned out, I had alot more fun editing everything at home rather than actually shooting. I posted a few pictures off to the side. Winter Weddings I dont believe are the easiest thing to shoot, its cold out, and theres not really much color to work with. I really feel a summer wedding would be TONS of fun to shoot! Yeah for Summer......BOO to winter!

A New Year and a New Baby!

Hey everyone, here I am starting a blog for this New Year! I guess you could call this some kind of New Years Resolution, well...... keeping it up to date could be a good resolution! ;) I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that Santa gave you all that you wished for! Spencer and I got a belated Christmas gift when we found out we were going to have another little baby a few days ago! We are super excited to give Sophia a little brother or sister! I'm already anxious to find out what it is! Funny thing is that its going to be another September baby! I'm excited to pick out more cute names and clothes......I'm secretly hoping for a boy, but I will be happy either way as long as its healthy!
